It’s the last night in the Soop! Namjoon and Taehyung are in the kitchen whipping up some pasta and steak. That is certainly a combination that can do no wrong.
Aglio in Italian means garlic and Olio means oil. Garlic and oil. This is the easiest pasta dish you’ll ever make aside from opening jars of store made sauce.
The main ingredient? Garlic. Lots and lots of garlic.

Spaghetti Aglio e Olio with steak
Simple and easy garlic pasta that requires only a few ingredients.
Ingredients
Spaghetti Aglio e Olio
- 1 lb spaghetti
- 10 garlic cloves sliced thinly
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes ,or to taste
- salt and pepper to taste
Steak
- 1 steak
- 1-2 tbsp canola or vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 whole garlic clove
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Spaghetti e Aglio
- Cook your spaghetti to your liking.
- Drain the pasta and put aside.
- Over medium low heat, combine garlic and olive oil. When the garlic starts to bubble, reduce the heat to low and slowly toast the garlic for 10-15 minutes. The longer the garlic is in the oil, the better. It gives the garlic more time to infuse into the oil.
- When the garlic slices start becoming a golden brown color, add in the red pepper flakes, salt and black pepper. Leave it to toast for an additional five minutes over low heat.
- Add in spaghetti and combined well.
- Serve right away!
Steak
- Pat the steak dry with paper towels
- Season the steak to your liking with salt and pepper
- Add oil to a pan over medium high heat.
- Place the steak into the pan and let it sit for 3-4 minutes. Only flip the steak when it naturally releases from the pan.
- When one side of the steak has been seared and flipped, add butter and an entire glove of garlic. Let the garlic clove sauté for 3-4 minutes. This will infuse the oil with garlic goodness.
- Turn down the heat to low. Flip over the steak and continuously brush the garlic clove over the steak. If you want rare to medium rare steak, cook for four minutes. If you want medium, cook 4-5 mins and if you want well-done, cook for 5-6 minutes.
- Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5-7 minutes.
- Slice the garlic clove. It should be extremely soft by now.
- Slice the steak and serve with the garlic clove and remaining butter sauce.
Notes
You can also top the pasta with Italian parsley if you would like!
